The Barefoot Mission Board

Taylor has worked in ministry for Christ Connect Church since 2013. She began her career there in youth ministry and transitioned to community development in 2017, moving to Argentine to immerse in the community.  Argentine was an easy choice for the Penrod family as her husband Jimmy works as a teacher at JC Harmon High School. She is passionate about seeing the church mobilize to bring restoration to their families, communities, and neighborhoods.  Taylor and Jimmy, alongside their kids, Asa & Flora, are committed to being good neighbors and flourishing the local community.

Sherrie is embracing the additional time and opportunities that retirement brings to serve others, volunteer, invest in relationships, to travel, and to experience new adventures. She  volunteers as the bookkeeper for Barefoot Mission, serves her church family in different roles, enjoys mentoring at a local elementary school, and cherishes the time she spends with her children and 4 grandchildren. Sherrie has served in many leadership and administrative roles during her career where organization, encouragement and helping others succeed were at the heart of her work. She is grateful for the opportunity at Barefoot Mission to come alongside others using her strengths where needed, and being a part of work that brings hope, encouragement and possibilities to the lives of others.  

Sandy is a retired business owner of Penguins Florist and Brooks Publishing, that she co-owned with her late husband, Jeff. She now spends her free time serving the community with Barefoot Mission, blessing others with her gift of hospitality, and engaging in mentoring youth in the Olathe school district, at present by reading to kids in elementary schools.  She is passionate about giving everyone a place at the “table.”  Sandy also loves spending time and making memories with her grands.

 Scott opens and directs physical therapy clinics in his position with Physical Therapy By Phoenix & Phoenix Home Care Hospice. He is married to his wife, Diadra, and they have three sons that live justice-driven lives. They actively open their home for respite care through our local foster care agency. Scott thrives by being around different types of people and perspectives.  

Dara is passionate about serving others and investing in her community through her church, mentoring, and nonprofit work. She serves as a Substitute Teaching Leader with Bible Study Fellowship, a mentor with Lead to Read and C You in the Majors, a victim advocate with Value Unconditional, and a shepherd at Christ Connect Church. Dara finds joy in encouraging others, building meaningful relationships, and using her gifts to support and serve those around her. She is family-oriented and loves spending time with her husband, Chris, and their two daughters.

Josh and his wife, Juliana, have made the Argentine neighborhood their home for the last ten years and raised their two children there.  He works in learning & development at a major national insurance company.  Josh is an advocate for sustainable, compassionate neighborhood development, and brings this passion to his involvement in Barefoot Mission, working to help Argentine continue to become a better place for his family and neighbors.

Juliana Ladd has lived in Argentine KCK for 10 years with her husband, Josh, and two kids. She works as an ASL Interpreter throughout the KC metro as well as volunteers as a barista at Grounded Sole. She has been a supporter of the Barefoot Mission since its founding and is passionate about bettering neighborhoods and local communities.  

 Ryan is a Strategic Account Manager for eShipping. He and his wife, Heather, have three little boys. Ryan enjoys supporting various charities around Kansas City that bring hope and healing to people in need. He finds joy in watching the curiosity of his little boys unfold. He is passionate about serving where he is called.  

Katty is a lifelong learner and a juggler of many hats. She is married to her husband, Israel, and their three girls. She likes creating with her hands; tools she sees God uses to bring a smile, comfort, joy or change into the life of someone she meets. While she doesn’t have much spare time now, she enjoys reading, baking and trying out new coffee recipes. 

Jamie is a full-time wife to Michael and together they have raised three beautiful children who are all very close to being launched. She enjoys her part-time bookkeeper gig, and finds so much joy in feeding the teens at church, hosting her church Life Group monthly, snuggling babies in the nursery and teaching about Jesus at Summer Camp. Jamie believes with her whole heart that life is not a zero-sum game and our world is a better place when we see and honor our common humanity.
